A service to celebrate Sheila's life

A service to celebrate Sheila's life will be held at St Andrew's Church, Blagdon on Wednesday 29th May 2024 at 1.00pm.

The family would like everyone to wear a hint of pink, for example a scarf, tie or even a flower, it is Sheila's favourite colour.

After the service, you are invited to join the family at Aldwick Estate, for refreshments and the opportunity to share your memories of Sheila.

If you are able to attend Sheila's funeral, the family would be grateful if you could send an email to her daughter lisa.fleming1970@gmail.com to help with the number of people for the catering arrangements.

Family flowers only please. Donations if desired are being received for Children's Chronic Arthritis Association in memory of Sheila and can be made via the link on this page or sent to C V Gower Funeral Directors, The Square, Winscombe, BS25 1BS, Tel: 01934 842945.

Thoughts

I am so sorry to hear that Sheila has passed away. I will always remember how kind and lovely she was as a teacher to my children and to me as a colleague. I periodically bumped into her in Cadbury’s and we always had a lovely catch up. Although my children are now grown, they remember her clearly as a wonderful teacher who gave them sweets or a biscuit to help them take their medicine when they were struggling with asthma. She will always be remembered fondly by our family and we send our condolences to Shelia’s.

We met whilst reading with reception and always used to have a little giggle at the trials and tribulations of the reception children. We then became friends and stayed in contact regularly from the lovely lunches at your house to our most recent group coffees and lunches. You will be very much missed xx

Mrs Thoy was my first teacher 27 years ago when I joined Fairfield School. The first person outside of my family unit that made me feel truly safe and cared for. She taught me twice in my time at Fairfield (first in nursery and again in year 2) and even once I had moved on from her classes she was like a guardian angel for my whole time at primary school. She continued to give huge amounts of love and encouragement to me throughout my life through messages, coffee meet ups, visiting my first home just before Christmas last year and attending my surprise 30th Birthday party in April this year. She really was part of our family. An incredible teacher and a beautiful soul who played a large part in my choice to pursue a career in education. Mrs Thoy was the most loving, caring, thoughtful and special person and I will miss her (and her hugs!) terribly.
